Schuylkill County’s Newest Hidden Gem Restaurant
The Coldstream Kitchen has its own flavor and personality. This hidden gem restaurant is located in Orwigsburg Pennsylvania and many tourists and people passing through miss the chance to eat some of the best food in Schuylkill County.
How The Coldstream Kitchen Was Started
“It was actually by accident,” said Tyler Sterner. He and his brother Travis had worked as cooks in the restaurant industry for many years. One day they were having a few drinks at the Second Mountain Rod & Gun Club when they landed on the topic of owning a restaurant of their own.
By chance, the main trustees of the club overheard their conversation and approached the brothers about operating out of the club’s kitchen. The Gun Club restaurant had previously been a simple bar food style set up that only served members of the Second Mountain Rod & Gun Club since the beginning of 2020.
Seeing the opportunity for their restaurant’s vision to come to fruition Tyler & Travis jumped at the opportunity to open The Coldstream Kitchen.
The Coldstream Kitchen Is Open To The Public
So many people are missing out on an excellent meal because they do not realize The Coldstream Kitchen is open to everyone and anyone! You do not have to be a member of The Second Mountain Gun Club to get in. I repeat you do not have to be a gun club member to get one of the best dinners in Orwigsburg/Schuylkill Haven!
What Is There To Eat At The Coldstream Kitchen?
Their menu has an excellent variety of dishes and appetizers that will make your mouth water.
Appetizers
You can choose from classic appetizers that everyone loves like wings, homemade perogies, or fresh-cut fries. Or you can spice things up with their grilled Mexican corn dip.
Handhelds
I would personally recommend their Slam Burger with its juicy and cheesy patties on a brioche bun, but others might want to try their Smoked Kielbasa Sandwich with homemade horseradish beer cheese. While there is a bar, this is not just bar food. You can expect an excellent meal at The Coldstream Kitchen.
Entrees
Their entrees have all the bases covered. From crab cakes to ribeye steak. Maybe you are looking for something with wings? Try the mouthwatering duck or dive deeper and get the cast iron salmon.
Dessert
When talking about their menu they raved about their desserts. Tyler said, “I have never seen a restaurant have so many takeout orders for desserts or dessert orders in general.” Their smores bar is definitely a local favorite. Aside from the menu staples, their recent dessert special of Plum Napoleon has been a major hit.
Who Goes To The Cold Stream Kitchen?
While this might seem like a strange question, there was a specific reason it was asked. As mentioned above, the gun club and The Coldstream Kitchen have a partnership that allows for anyone to come in, but what is the general feel and restaurant style of people?
There is actually a wide range of people who go to The Coldstream Kitchen. There are people from the bar and older guys who have always been around. Additionally, there is a large crowd of younger people all the way to parents with older kids. The Coldstream Kitchen is the local watering hole where you can relax and take your time with dinner and a drink.

Try out this restaurant nestled just behind Blue Mountain High School campus nearly touching both Orwigsburg and Schuylkill Haven’s borough lines. If you are from out of the county, they are just a short drive north of Cabela’s. Stop in on your way up to Pottsville to take a tour of the Yuengling brewery!
